Be aware that these are common abbreviations used in the United States where Treble (triple) is not the same as Treble in British terms. The Brits Treble stitch is the USA double crochet.
The star and slanting stitch are not that common so give them a try! or it could be that the terms have changed since these were scanned from a vintage booklet.
