This duck and chick set of patterns are roughly six inches so they are suitable for applique and baby quilt blocks. For applique work you could leave the edges raw, glue the pieces down to the base fabric and then couch over a few strands of embroidery thread or perle cotton or even crochet cotton. I just use whatever I have on hand that’s a good color for the project. Glue sticks are easy to use and if I’m turning the edges under on applique then Elmer’s washable glue (yeah, school glue!) works too. On turned edges, try a blanket stitch in black as your outline.
