Henrietta Chicken Toy Crochet Pattern
I was fortunate to grow up in rural places where open fields and chicken coops were my playground. I’ve been a city girl for many years but I still think these toys would be great for any kid, city or not. Why not crochet up the entire barnyard?
When these instructions were written in the 1940’s polyfil wasn’t available so they used cotton batting because it’s all they had, except for scraps, of course. Use what you are comfortable with as long as it allows for firm filling.
The free pattern can be downloaded as a PDF file here.

It sounds like a color change where you would attach the new color to the tail of the previous one.
Please can you tell me how to finish off the tail? I have broken off and am at loss at where to start next. It says to attach thread to next sc at base of tial and make sc in same place where thread was attached, sc in next 18sc. But I am unsure of where to attach the thread to. Sorry. I haven’t done much crochet but my daughter loves chickens and I am trying to make her one.
Thanks.
